J U P I T E R I N L E O

Jupiter stays in a sign for about a year. Therefore, it takes 12 years to circle the zodiac and come back to that sign again.

Jupiter represents expansion, growth, humor, optimism, planning, and, at times, snobbishness. Financially, the boom and bust cycle is Jupiter and Saturn -- when it's booming, that's Jupiter, when it is busting, that's Saturn. Jupiterian types may be into personal growth or may be into financial growth, but they are definitely into growth.

Emotionally, Jupiter is optimistic, humorous, and reasonable. Unfortunately, sometimes they are reasonable when they shouldn't be or humorous when it isn't called for.

Leo and Jupiter go well together. Leo is the kingly/queenly sign of the zodiac -- its symbol is the lion. Leos love to do things in a big way. They like being the center of attention. This sign rules acting, creativity, children, and gambling. Leo is the sign of the boss. But, most importantly, Leo rules games, parties, and fun. When anything enters Leo, that planet remembers how to have fun, how to play games, how to be childlike.

As you would expect, when Jupiter is in Leo, there would be a need for the grandiose, for entrepreneurial risk taking, for going it alone. These were also times when people remembered how to be wild (not all the time, but some significant times).

For example, the Roaring 20s were kicked off by Jupiter in Leo, so was the Summer of Love in the 60s. But Jupiter was also in Leo at the depth of the Great Depression and in the midst of World War II. However, it should be noted that these were times when people were streaming to the movies -- they wanted to be entertained to take their minds off the times.

Jupiter opens up. Jupiter in Leo opens people to their creativity, allows them to explore new options regarding children, creativity, and happiness. Creativity becomes a "big thing" in people's lives.

However, the overbearing side of Leo can be over-emphasized with Jupiter in Leo resulting in people's egos getting too large. This can result in wars as leader's egos, and their sense of national pride, expands.
