Taurus is a quiet sign, most of the time. Where Aries is a fire sign, Taurus is an earth sign. Earth is more practical -- "down to earth". The main image for Taurus is Ferdinand the bull lying in a pasture. Be aware, of course, that the quiet bull can sometimes become quite energetic.

Taureans love beauty and nature. They often surround themselves with the pleasures of the earth. These people are the conoisseurs of the zodiac. The quality of a Taurus is a function of the level of their taste. For example, it is easy to imagine Jupiter in Taurus as a Falstaffian type with a rotund belly, an earthy sense of humor, and earthy tastes in women and wine. With more refined tastes, Jupiter in Taurus can be an upper class Marinite sipping a fine Chardonnay and looking at an art exhibit.

Taureans have a slow, drawling quality to their speech and movements -- like farmers. Taurus people may have lived in the city their whole lives, but will still seem pastoral.

Jupiter in Taurus is like a flower opening, slow and organic. Plans are laid out in leisure and unfold with a no-nonsense practicality. People are more open to their sensual side and to their feelings. The rush of Jupiter in Aries is slowed to a crawl as people consider their options in a more leisurely fashion. People will be more aware of nature.

Jupiter in Taurus carefully looks at what will expand their productivity. People with a Taurus emphasis in their charts will become more open -- their sense of humor will blossom. The physical is looked at with an eye to improvement. They will look at how they can improve their physical strength and appearance.

With Jupiter in Taurus, however, everybody slows down and gets to be more mellow and grounded about how they improve and expand themselves. Jupiter in Taurus tries to improve the situation by demanding their rights and by improving their monetary situation. Their feelings are well known to those around them since they are open about their desires, and they won't budge 'till they get their needs.

1988 - 1989

Everyone was singing "Don't Worry, Be Happy" (including George Bush). Films: "Big", "Die Hard", "A Fish Called Wanda", "Good Morning, Vietnam", "Moonstruck", "Rain Man" give you a sense of the more mellow sense of art during Jupiter in Taurus. Add in "Field of Dreams" and "Driving Mrs. Daisy" and you get the pastoral, rich, laid-back quality of Jupiter in Taurus. The stock market had rebounded from the crash in 1987.

1976 - 1977

Radar of Venus, landing on Mars, Concorde flights

1964 - 1965

Lyndon Johnson with his Texas drawl is very Jupiter in Taurus. "Mary Poppins", "My Fair Lady" continue the feel good quality. "Zorba the Greek" shows the more earthy side. The Beatles hit it big with "A Hard Day's Night" and the song "I Want to Hold Your Hand". "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Hello Dolly" have that same up-beat earthiness.

1952 - 1953

Dwight Eisenhower elected President (relax, the grandfather who golfs is in charge...). "The Waltz of the Toreadors" (good Taurean imagery) and "Waiting for Godot" which is Taurean wisdom, wait long enough and knowledge will be shown, eventually. "The Power of Positive Thinking" and "High Noon" ("I'm staying right here", he drawled. Sounds like Taurus to me). "I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "Wheel of Fortune" have the positive feeling associated with Jupiter in Taurus.

1940 - 1941

This is the middle of World War II, however Britain avoids disaster immediately after Jupiter enters Taurus when British forces are evacuated from Dunkirk. Prior to this, the war was going completely against the Allies.

1928 - 1929

Color television experiments (growth in the visual art), the first Mickey Mouse films, Ravel's "Bolero" (bulls again!), Herbert Hoover elected (rather stubborn economic policies). This was the leadup to the Stock Market Crash (Neptune entering Virgo had a lot to do with it, though). "Making Whoopie" and "You are the Cream in my Coffee" had the Jupiter in Taurus musical flavor.

1916 - 1917

MIddle of World War I. FIrst Rose Bowl game. "The Pawn Shop" is a Chaplain satire.

1904 - 1906

Special Theory of Relativity by Albert Einstein. End of Russo-Japanese war. Bloody Sunday in Russia as demonstrations brutally suppressed in St. Petersburg. Start of end of Tsar. Picasso's pink period. Rotary club founded (old boys in action).
