M A Y 3 R D S T E L L I U M I N T A U R U S
There will be a major stellium (a large number of planets close together) in Taurus on May 3, 2000. Part of that stellium will be the Jupiter - Saturn conjunction (see Jupiter - Saturn conjunct for more details). However, on top of that important conjunction, all of the inner planets from Moon through Saturn will be in Taurus on May 3rd. These are the traditional planets, the ones known for thousands of years.
When you have a huge pileup like this in one sign, you often have a reaction in the opposite sign, in this case, in Scorpio. This will be an intense time due to this reaction. Already, people are feeling the intensity in their daily lives.
Not only are all the planets conjunct, but they are nearly all square either Neptune or Uranus in Aquarius (except Mars, which is widely trine to Neptune). On the one hand is the sense of craziness and excitement with Uranus in Aquarius and Neptune in Aquarius, while on the other is the need for stability and connectedness with the practicality of earth in Taurus. Many people are finding that walks in nature, a good Taurean activity, help to balance out all the Aquarian madness.
People will be torn between all the excitement of technology, of the web and world-wide interconnectedness with the monetary and material needs for security and comfort in one's posessions. This is a good time to question too much stodginess in Taurus and too much excitement in Aquarius. There has to be a balance between theoretical possibilities and actual, solid production.
Of course, there is a spiritual side to Taurus. The Buddha was said to be born with the Sun in Taurus and the full Moon in Scorpio. He got to enlightenment by giving up asceticism and eating a nourishing meal, sitting in one spot, and conquering illusion by calling on the earth as his witness -- all good Taurean activities! He originally lived as a prince with nothing but pleasant circumstances (Taurus) until he was faced with death, poverty, and suffering (Scorpio). In the same way, with all the planets in Taurus this is a great time to sit quietly and contemplate what is happeningin your life and to create new goals and aspirations. Perhaps it is a time to reach beyond pure materialism to what makes life worth living.
For a few days, people will be caught up in a maelstrom of practicality with tugs from the outer planets pulling people out to freedom (Aquarius and Sagittarius!) and futuristic possibilities. These months are times to rethink where you are going. For more information, also see the yearly planets 2000, an astrological overview of the year.
