This year is a relatively quiet year with the main interest coming from Jupiter and Saturn in Gemini opposing Pluto in Sagittarius and Jupiter entering Cancer on July 13th. Jupiter starts the year in (Gemini but then enters Cancer) on July 13th. Saturn is going through Gemini the whole year.
Together with Uranus in Aquarius, Neptune in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius all the outer planets will be tending towards a more open and liberal time. Friendship, humanitarianism, and humanism will combine with a new intellectual awareness to bring out a more liberal and progressive atmosphere.
With all the outer planets except Pluto in air (communications, activity, relationships) and Pluto in Fire (direct, personal action -- with gusto) all the planets are in Yang or masculine signs. Our reality is based on action (Pluto) while everything else is in constant airy movement and flux.
Unfortunately, Jupiter is in a difficult sign in Gemini the first part of the year while Saturn is in a difficult sign for it, as well. For that matter, Aquarius is the "fall" of Neptune. Jupiter in Gemini makes everyone a bit scattered and jittery -- people try to juggle too much and drop some balls. Saturn in Gemini adds to the hectic pace, but is a great time for infrastructure improvements in roads and communication networks -- notice that the web is increasing while cellular phones, DVD, music on the internet, etc are all taking off.
However, there is a strong drive for Truth, with a capital "T", to win out with Pluto in Sagittarius. People want to be lead by people with vision, with enthusiasm, with fervor -- in fact, they demand it. However, there is also the strong need for Freedom since both Neptune and Uranus are in Aquarius.
When Jupiter enters Cancer), a water sign, on July 13th, people will become less frenzied and more caring -- they will be able to stop and smell the roses. Of course, Saturn remains in Gemini (and everything else is still in fire and air) so there will still be some frenetic activity, but it will be a little less.
Jupiter transits are relatively quick -- they build for about 5 days then slack off in 2 or 3 from the date listed. For that reason, they aren't as important as transits of the other outer planets. When Jupiter in Gemini trines Neptune on April 5th, which would affect us the first 8 days of April, There will likely be an announcement about an improvement in technology or the web. Also, people involved in technology will be more active than usual. Everyone will be talking and writing about their dreams more (and, with Neptune in Aquarius, the collective dream is communication and science -- the world wide web, cell phones, etc are prominent). This same trine happens again on June 25th.
When Jupiter opposes Pluto in the first part of May, people will be torn between Jupiter in Gemini which is an overwhelming amount of local, frenetic activity (the trees) or what they must do to further their sense of truth and vision, often involving foreign travel, religion, philosophy, or politics ( Pluto in Sagittarius -- the forest). The basic duality is, "I have a million things to do, and more every day, but I feel my destiny calling, my need to see other realities, go to foreign lands, study something new, find Truth, get involved in a passionate need to open to something larger than mystelf".
Jupiter trines Uranus as well as Neptune in June (see above for Jupiter trine Neptune). Jupiter in Gemini trining Uranus in Aquarius will make for incredible social and intellectual stimulation. People will flash on ideas, need tremendous freedom, and bump into friends with amazing regularity. The talk shows and gossip magazines will be the center of people's lives for a while. If you are a writer or a theoretician, mark the weeks around June 19th as peak days.
Saturn in Gemini opposing Pluto in Sagittarius is similar to Jupiter opposing Pluto, but more intense, serious, and longer. This opposition happens twice, once in the beginning of August and once in the end of October through the beginning of November. During this opposition, your whole mental structure comes smack up against some larger Truth, some larger reality. This is a good time to get past some mental limitations you have, to open up to a better way to view the world.
However, this is tempered by Mars retrograde which extends from May 11th to July 19th. This retrograde movement of Mars happens every 2-1/2 years for about three months. During the stationary retrograde on May 11th, people will feel like they are on a treadmill. They will be putting out energy and trying to drive forward but nothing is happening. Mars stationary retrograde feels like being in a car with the brake on while trying to gun it forward.
During the retrograde, people's drive and energy will be low. This is a good time to look into what drives you, what motivates you, what you desire. This is an excellent time to build your muscles, both actually and figuratively. It is not a good time to repress, to avoid looking at what you desire.
Those people and cultures that repress rather than working on their desire natures, their drive, will find the repressed energies coming up full force during the stationary direct in mid July. Hence, even if you don't repress, watch out for angry people at around that time.
A similar pattern happens with Venus retrograde from May 29th to October 30th. Only here you are less inclined to be social. Your pleasures, social life, sense of art and aesthetics are in the shop for repairs. Just as you work on your drive with Mars retrograde, so you build up your artistic abilities rather than actually doing art with Venus retrograde, you build your social skills rather than being in society with Venus retrograde. That doesn't mean you can't be social or artistic with Venus retrograde, just that everyone will be a little more hermit-like, a little less suave in this period.
During the three Mercury retrogrades (there are three every year) packages get lost more often and people play phone tag more often. When they do connect, there is more chance for miscommunication. They say it isn't a good time to buy appliances or cars, both ruled by Mercury, since they will break down more. Of course, it isn't as good a time to sign complex documents since the chance for misunderstandings is increased.
Summing up, this will be a year where truth (Pluto in Sagittarius), friends (Uranus in Aquarius),
talking and writing (Jupiter and Saturn in Gemini), and freedom (both Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius) will
be the focus. With Neptune in Aquarius, people will be free to explore mysticism and fantasies. in fact,
your average person has been a lot more aware of what fantasies are foisted on them with Neptune in Aquarius.
You will look back on this year as a whirlwind of activity.
