Overview of 2006
Only one planet changes sign this year, Jupiter, which
will be in Scorpio until November 24th, when it enters Sagittarius. Jupiter does well in Scorpio, where it
opens up that normally intense, controlling, and guarded sign. The downside is
the macabre sense of humor (see Jupiter in
Scorpio). When it moves
into Sagittarius (see Jupiter in
Sagittarius), the sign it rules, people are opened to adventure, travel,
and philosophy -- they want to stretch. It is like New Year's resolutions, but
for a year straight. Everybody wants to improve themselves. Hopefully, it will
lighten up the fanaticism when it conjoins Pluto in Sagittarius (although it
may exacerbate it as well, since Pluto in Sagittarius is already a bit
megolomaniacal -- Jupiter can increase that).
The remaining outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and
Pluto remain in their signs.
Uranus is still in Pisces, Neptune is in Aquarius, and Pluto is in
Sagittarius. Neptune in Aquarius
gives us nebulous fears (and demagoguery about these fears) but also allows us
to have faith in science and to bring together science and faith (personally, I
believe in intelligent design -- the method: evolution!). Pluto in Sagittarius gives power
to religion and makes those who are religious become fanatically
proselytizing. However, it also
makes people speak truth to power, explore new paradigms for power, and uncover
the truth with zeal. See Neptune in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius for more details.
Uranus in Pisces lightens the Neptune in
Aquarius. With Uranus ruling
Aquarius where Neptune is placed and Neptune ruling Pisces where Uranus is
placed, this puts them in "mutual dispositorship". This has some of the qualities of a
conjunction of these two planets.
Uranus is in the more humorous Pisces. Here the oddness of Uranus is looked upon with humor rather
than fear (as it was in Aquarius).
And revolutionaries are looked upon as freeing from the old rather than
forcing change upon the fearful.
For more information, see Uranus in Pisces.
There are two Saturn aspects, both in August (all the rest are Jupiter aspects). Saturn aspects last for about 2 weeks, a week and a half before the date given and a week after. Jupiter aspects, in contrast, only last a week total (3 or 4 days before and 2-3 days afterwards).
Jupiter in Scorpio squares Neptune in Aquarius on
January 28th, March 18th, and September 24th. Jupiter in Scorpio opens people
to reality with humor. This sardonic placement laughs at difficulties and
intense situations. Neptune in Aquarius can see all the negative possibilities,
and can fearfully blow them out of proportion. It also can see all the positive
in people -- it hopes for the possibility of reform. This can result in a
waking up to the idiocy of fear that nebulous possibilities will occur or it
will make people have greater strength and laugh at their fears.
Jupiter in Scorpio trines Uranus in Pisces on May 5th
and August 29th. The upside is this aspect gives the ability to see your
situation more clearly, and to act on it. All the subtleties and subconscious
underpinings become more obvious, and there is a need to improve. However, for
some, this can increase the need to hide from the truth, or to increase their
power through subtrafuge -- the slime factor can increase.
Jupiter in Scorpio squares Saturn in Leo on June 22nd
and October 25th. This is one quarter of the way through the Jupiter-Saturn cycle and half way through
the expansion of the 2000s decade. If you play your cards right (and Leo -
Scorpio is a poker-loving combination) you will break out of your sense of
personal limitation and increase your magnetism. It's time for some positive
drama! Laugh at the difficulties with scorn -- you will come to realize the
barriers in your way are of your own making.
Saturn in Leo quincunxes Uranus in Pisces on August 1st. A quincunx is a frustrating aspect -- if it is the right time, it's the wrong place, and vica versa. The image is a kingly authority being embarassed by a cout jester -- beneath the humor can be some real insight. Some people try to throw a wet blanket on creativity and metaphysical joy -- in general, they fail. With Pisces ruling the outcasts, the ghettos and bohemias of society and Uranus being what people get insight into, where their eyes are focused, you can see how Katrina laid bare the true social dynamics of this country. Well, around the end of July, people will once again get a chance to see that the emperor has no clothes.
Saturn in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius on August
31st. This is the battle of personal boundaries, of personal accomplishments
being aggrandized, versus the need to merge into the group, into humanity.
"I accomplished that" versus "we all merged our ideas and our
talents to make it happen". Friendships will be tested at this time -- are
you a real friend or are you simply out for yourself? Are you free, or are you
bound by your own dgo?
Of course, throughout the year Mercury retrogrades
happen. March 2nd through April 12th, July 4th through July 29th, and October
25th through November 18th. During these times it is best to work on thoughts
and writings that have already occurred, not a time to start new ones. People's
communications, personal gadgets, and mail all break down. Of course, vows and
contracts would be best put off until the retrograde ends.
This year, Venus is also retrograde. The retrograde
completes on February 3rd. This retrograde is like the one for Mercury, only
here the emphasis is on relationships and aesthetics. This is a great time to
improve relationships started prior to the retrograde -- it isn't as good a
time to start a relationship (unless one between two shy people...).
Retrogrades go back over and reflect -- this is an excellent time to go back
over your relationships and artisitic creativity and reflect upon them.
