Saturn in Libra

Saturn represents government leaders and especially presidents.  Saturn is exalted in Libra, which means that Librans look up to Saturn Ð they respect the increased ability to judge correctly that comes with age, they respect the solidity of Saturn when they are oscillating. Eisenhower was the golf-playing elderly statesman.  ÒWe like IkeÓ was the pin people wore.  Eisenhower rose to prominence when Neptune entered Libra and he became Allied Commander -- he lost power as Neptune left Libra for Scorpio with the civil rights turmoil. Thirty years later Ronald Reagan, a smiling elder actor, was elected to the presidency while Saturn (and Pluto) was in Libra.  He was the Teflon president because people liked him.  People like peaceful, smiling presidents who can take care of it all somehow while outer planets are in Libra.

It is no coincidence that gliders came into prominence with Saturn in Libra Ð people like to ÒglideÓ along when Saturn is here. Massive art projects (such as the Arc de Triomphe) and masterpieces of literature, movies,  and art seem to come about with Saturn in Libra.  1980 and 1950 were great years for films that made you feel deeply. The deeper laws of nature were discovered by individual scientists Ð Maxwell, Mendel, and Faraday.  Faraday and Maxwell were exploring electromagnetism while Mendel was looking at genetics. Although Britain abolished slavery throughout the commonwealth, it took the U.S. another 30 years and the Civil War to abolish it.  Libra demands that people be treated equally Ð slavery is not equal.
