Saturn represents fear, seriousness, and limitation on one side but accomplishment, conservatism, focus, concentration, patience, trustworthiness, structuring, and caution on the other. Wherever it transits, thatıs where people feel they must "get it together" and accomplish something.
Saturn tends to get "heavier" the longer it is in a sign. By the end of the sign, Saturn is at its heaviest. So it is
with great relief that it enters the next sign, where, since it is starting a sign, it is at its lightest. Currently, Saturn is
in Pisces.
Saturn is in Pisces from May 22, 1993 to June 30, 1993 and January 29, 1994 to April 7, 1996
Saturn was recently in Pisces between these dates:
December 17, 1964 to March 4, 1967
February 15, 1935 to January 15, 1938
January 8, 1906 to March 19, 1908
March 1, 1876 to May 15, 1878
January 25, 1847 to April 3, 1849
March 16, 1817 to June 13, 1819
These periods of time have a lot in common. They were times when structures broke down, or when compassion was institutionalized. But as the structures broke down, the seeds of the new structures that would be initiated when Saturn entered Aries were created. Anti-corruption campaigns were started during these periods (Saturn repression of Piscean corrucption). Improvements in sound and visual recordings took place. Purity laws were enacted. Labor laws which improved the lot of the underclass were enacted. Various health care acts were initiated.
In the 1964 to 1967 period, the Vietnam war heated up, the cultural revolution took place in China, and there was a sense of society breaking down. The Watts riot occured. The East Coast blackout (and surge in births 9 months later...) happened then. Ralph Nader wrote "Unsafe At Any Speed". Anti-pollution laws were enacted. Color TV became popular. Elanor Rigby was playing on the radio. Medicare was enacted. This took place while Neptune was in Scorpio while Uranus conjuncted Pluto in Virgo (the opposite sign). However, there was still a sense of dissolution of social structures and of the establishment corruption.
The 1935 to 1938 period is listed in the history books as the period when peace was demolished, leading to World War II. Radar was invented, TV became commercial for the first time, nylon was used in clothing, the Hindenburg disaster happened. All of these inventions had to do with gases, or diffuse media, or diaphanous material. Hitler went past all limits (Saturn) set down, and Chamberlain (who was appointed in 1937) appeased him, just flowed with it in a Piscean way. Edward VIII abdicated for love. Social Security institutionalized the care of the elderly and disabled. Hammond Organs became popular in U.S. Snow White was produced by Disney. BBC London inaugurates TV. The Golden Gate bridge and Lincoln Tunnel are opened.
During 1906 to 1908 the Triple Entente was completed, thus completing the situation of two opposing sides who would soon battle it out in World War I. This was the period when Teddy Roosevelt was a lame duck in this country, but he did pass the pure food and drug act and gave a classic speech on preserving the environment. During this period he spent much less energy trying to break up the trusts then he did when Saturn was in Aquarius. Ruth St. Denis introduced modern dancing. "The Jungle" leads to Pure Food and Drug Act. Pavlov did his experiments in conditioned response in dogs. Color Photography was invented. Cubism, Boy Scouts, and the first comic strip happened then.
The 1876 to 1878 period was the Russian-Turkish war and the Congress of Berlin. Russia felt that her wartime sacrifices were rendered useless by the treaty (failure and dissolution...). The Blue Cross was founded to fight alcoholism. Hayes elected (election was in dispute). Telephone, phonograph invented. Oxygen liquified. Bacteria stained and identified.
Finally, the 1847 to 1849 period featured the "revolutions of 1848". During the revolutions every major city in Europe went up in revolution. The barriers to western expansion were broken in the Mexican-American war. These were the years of the Polk presidency in the U.S. Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights written. The British factory act: children 13-18 were limited to 10 hours of work a day. First public health act in Britain. Mormons founded Salt Lake City.
